SPRING CLEANING FOR FLOORS

With the winter months behind us, your floors have probably been neglected because of the cold and harsh weather. Sand and salt, although helpful in removing slippery and icy conditions; create havoc on flooring.
Now that warmer weather is upon us; it's imperative to address your floor maintenance issues. Easy tips to clean up winter mess are:
- Establish a regular floor maintenance program to carry your business throughout the year.
- Clean all matting soiled from the winter months. Most mats can be taken to the local car wash and power washed clean.
- Make sure to have carpets cleaned in the spring/summer months at least once a year to remove all salt and sand debris from the winter months. This will increase the life of your carpet.
- Machine scrub all tiled areas to remove white, crusty salt buildup.
- Schedule scrubbing and waxing to perk up tired vinyl composite tile (VCT).
The main benefit for refinishing your floors in Spring is beacause the weather allows for lower humidity. This in turn allows the wax to cure in dryer conditions. When the wax is able to cure longer, it creates a more durable barrier between the actual flooring and it's enemy, dirt and grime. Maintaining the appearance of a newly refinished floor then becomes easier through simple wet mopping and other floor care techniques.
